FAQ
-
What sets Madsen Medical Direct Care apart from other practices?
We have shrugged off the bureaucracy. We have shredded the red tape. In refusing to recognize any interference with the sanctity of the patient/provider relationship, we have returned primary practice medicine to its root values of clinical excellence, and compassionate knowledge of our patients. Coupled with our whole person approach to health and wellness, we believe you’ll find the difference between Madsen Medical Direct Care and traditional primary care practices abundant.
-
What is integrative medicine?
At Madsen Medical, you’ll find that our approach to medicine integrates multiple forms of medicine–that may mean actual medication, or hormone replacement therapy, but it may also mean lifestyle changes as relates to sleep, diet, movement, and stress. We take time to listen and get to know you so that we can build a wellness plan that is specific to you so that you can optimize your health and longevity.
-
Who are the providers at Madsen Medical Direct Care?
Our providers are Dr. Daniel Madsen and Trisha McVicker, CNP. While working with our team you may also hear from Tara, LPN, or Windy who is our Practice Assistant Manager.

-
Can I use my Health Savings Account to pay for my Madsen Medical membership?
At this time, direct primary care memberships do not qualify as a Health Savings Account expense. You are able to maintain an HSA account and use those funds to pay for non-DPC services including lab work and medications.
-
Will I benefit from Madsen Medical if I do not require frequent medical attention?
We believe you will. We might argue that everyone benefits from a service tailored directly to them. We aren’t interested in simply triaging acute needs, but want to create relationships with our patients that allow them to walk in full health. That’s why we offer custom healthcare. Our practice is devoted to the maintenance of your good health and to the enhancements of your daily experience that only full wellness can bring.
In wellness and therapeutic care alike, Madsen Medical Direct Care’s great ally is time. Large amounts of precious, irretrievable time given to you as you wish. Every visit will be easy-going but thorough to answer all your questions and address you needs. Then, as we come to fully understand your life and your health, we’ll work with you to build a comprehensive wellness plan available in no other regimen of care.
-
Do I need to keep my health insurance if I am a member at Madsen Medical?
We recommend our patients keep health insurance to use for healthcare expenses outside our office and in the event that hospital services become necessary.
-
Can I contact my provider after hours? How?
Yes! Because illness and injury do not respect regular office hours. You may call, text, or email your provider any day, at any hour. It’s how we do custom healthcare.
-
What happens if I need to go to the hospital or see a specialist?
In providing superb care with unprecedented provider access, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required, we will certainly continue to follow you during your hospital stay and work closely with any specialist. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the sort of expertise required, we may rely on those specialized care givers to manage your treatment.
-
Is my Madsen Medical membership tax deductible?
Unfortunately, no. Your membership is not yet defined as a “medical expense” in most states and as such is not tax deductible. To be sure, check with your tax adviser.
-
If I have Medicare, can I still join Madsen Medical?
Yes. You need only to sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor Madsen Medical will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any outside lab testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations prescribed by our office.
-
Can children become members of Madsen Medical?
Yes. We are happy to accept the children of our enrolled patients starting at age 13 years of age.
-
Are my medical records ever shared with insurance providers or pharmaceutical companies?
We maintain scrupulous standards of privacy. We are never obligated to provider any third- party with a copy of your medical records, unless you specifically ask that we do.
