5 Tips to Feel Great in 2025
The start of a new year always brings reflection and a desire to impact change in the new year to inspire the new you. And, of course, we love it when our patients are ready to make some changes for their health and longevity! But here is our advice: start small. We will give you our five favorite small changes that can change your health, but if you’re new to these ideas, pick one thing. Changing too many habits at once is often a recipe for disaster. Be kind to yourself, and if you misstep, start again.
Our 5 Tips to Feel Great in 2025
Sleep: Set a consistent bedtime and wake-up routine, even on the weekends. Consistency is one key to good sleep!
Nutrition: The number one thing you can do for your health this year is cut your sugar intake! This doesn't always have to mean staying away from candy and sweets 100% - although it should not be a daily food item. Our suggestion would be to check labels. You'll be surprised how many things contain sugar (condiments, salad dressing, pasta sauce). You’ll see changes ranging from your waistline to your skin quality, mental health, immune system function, and potentially other illnesses or symptoms you struggle with. Having a sweet tooth? Satisfy your craving with berries, apples, or fruit-infused water.
Stress: Find a healthy way to manage your stress: write it down, walk, pray or meditate, talk to a trusted advisor, engage in deep breathing exercises, or get some reps on a punching bag.
Movement: Aim to move for at least 30 minutes a day. Movement doesn’t have to be an intense workout at the gym! It could be walking (bonus points if you go for a walk with a weighted vest because you’ll also increase muscle mass, core stability, and bone density), biking, swimming, light strength training, or some other form of physical activity that gets your blood flowing!
Get your annual blood work done and see if there are any indicators of changes that you may need to consider. You can tell a lot by a basic bloodwork panel, but the more in-depth (especially regarding hormones), the better. When looking at your bloodwork, it is essential to remember to consider why the numbers are the way they are. If something is amiss, what’s the root cause?
